Institutional Assessment - Current Assessment Activities

Current Assessment Activities

Current assessment activities include information on a full range of projects and activities recently completed or currently underway to gauge student learning, make improvements or respond to accountability interests. These assessment instruments are administered on a rotating schedule.

National Survey of Student Engagement

The NSSE measures how students spend their time and what they gain from attending college.  Greenville University administered the NSSE to first-year and senior students in 2015 and will be administered again in Spring 2018.

Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE)

The Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE) was designed to complement the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), which is administered to undergraduate students. FSSE measures faculty expectations for student engagement in educational practices that are empirically linked with student learning and development. The FSSE was administered to faculty in Spring 2015.

Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI)

The Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI) is one tool Greenville University uses to improve the quality of student life and learning. The SSI measures student satisfaction and priorities, showing how satisfied GC students are as well as what issues are important to them. The SSI was administered to students Fall 2016.

CIRP Freshman Survey (TFS)

The Freshmen Survey (TFS) covers a wide range of student characteristics: parental income and education, ethnicity, and other demographic items; financial aid; secondary school achievement and activities; educational and career plans; and values, attitudes, beliefs, and self-concept. Greenville University uses the TFS to gain a snapshot of incoming students’ characteristics prior to the transformative experience of a Greenville University education. The TFS was administered to freshmen students Fall 2015.

CIRP College Senior Survey (CSS)

The College Senior Survey (CSS)  connects academic, civic, and diversity outcomes with a comprehensive set of college experiences to measure the impact of college. Greenville University uses the CSS in conjunction with the CIRP Freshman Survey (TFS) to capture valuable longitudinal data on students' cognitive and affective growth during their time here at GU. The CSS was administered to senior students Spring 2017.
