Job Description:

Greenville University is seeking a full-time, assistant professor with expertise in computer programming and gaming systems. The candidate must possess the abilities to work with multiple digital and computing technologies including design and development assets. The position begins in August 2018.

Primary teaching responsibilities include software development, game design, modeling and other courses within the Computer & Information Systems and Digital Media programs. Faculty are expected to supervise student internships and student projects in the field.

The University has a dynamic Digital Media Department (includes our CIS program) whose growth over the past 17 years has made them one of the largest departments on campus.  Three faculty currently have DM appointments.  Our DM majors have an outstanding record of obtaining challenging positions in various types of media professions.  Work by our students can be found at (http://dm.greenville.edu). The institution as a whole has over 1200 students and is located 50 miles east of St. Louis in an attractive residential community of approximately 7,000 people.

Compensation:

The scale for determining compensation is based on academic preparation and years of relevant experience. A generous benefits package includes healthcare coverage, retirement contributions, disability insurance, and a tuition waiver for dependents at Greenville University and a tuition exchange program with 75+ other Christian colleges and universities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Required: Masters Degree which includes 18 graduate hours in a relevant discipline.

Preferred: Terminal degree (e.g. MFA or PhD) in a relevant discipline and 5 years relevant work experience. Experience developing interactive media for professional clients. Proficiency in industry software such as Adobe products and Unreal or Unity engines. Background in game design and development and programming languages such as C++, Python, Java is a plus. Familiarity with 3-D printing or technical art pipelines in level design, event scripting, particle effects, animation, and/or shaders is a significant plus. College-level teaching experience preferred.

Required Experience:

The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in software development, design and/or computer art. This candidate will take leadership in developing new curriculum and envisioning the future of Game Design/Development at Greenville University. They will be expected to teach an industry-applicable approach for collaborative practices between artists and programmers, and will have a demonstrated record of creative practice and innovative research. Applicants must be dedicated to undergraduate teaching and research, have a vibrant personal Christian faith commitment, and a desire to serve as a role model for students in a Christian academic community.
