


Greenville College is seeking candidates for tenure-track position in Biology or Biology Education at the Assistant Professor level. Specialization is open but the Biology department is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in animal physiology or science education.
Teaching responsibilities include general education and upper-division courses, both in the traditional classroom/lab and possibly in an on-line format. Biology faculty carry significant advising responsibilities for those students pursuing post-baccalaureate training in medicine, nursing, physical therapy, and other graduate and professional programs. Typically, Biology faculty pursue collaborative research projects with advanced students in a funded summer research program. Additional responsibilities normally expected of a full-time faculty member include committee work; regular participation in efforts of recruitment and retention; and other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Salary is based on academic preparation and years of relevant experience. The College also provides a generous benefits package that includes health and disability insurance.
The successful candidates for this position will have records of highly effective undergraduate teaching both in classroom and laboratory. They should hold a doctorate in biology or closely related discipline (consideration will be given to candidates who are in the final stages of their degree program and have a clear plan for completion). Candidates must be passionate about teaching and serving students within a Christian academic community. Biology Department:The Department of Biology's mission is two-fold: First is to prepare biological scientists who demonstrate open-minded inquiry, integrity, service, and stewardship of God's creation, and the second is to help the liberal arts student to better understand and appreciate their role in God's created order. Biology majors are encouraged to do collaborative research with peers and professors.
Historically, the department has been highly effective in preparing its graduates for medical and other professional schools in the health sciences as well as admission to graduate programs in a variety of biological fields. Others are prepared for bachelor-level positions in research laboratories, forensics, conservation, and high school teaching.
School of Arts & Sciences:
Biology is a department in the School of Arts & Sciences. The school’s twelve departments focus on traditional liberal arts undergraduate majors and support a strong college-wide general education program. The Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences coordinates these majors and programs.
