Job Description:

To develop and execute an overall marketing strategy designed to drive programmatic growth and enhance the visibility and reputation of Greenville College.

The marketing department at Greenville College is part of the enrollment management group at Greenville College, and also serves the entire college in marketing and promotional efforts.  So, in addition to managing projects focused on generating new enrollment, the marketing department works closely with the alumni office, college advancement, and athletics to present a cohesive brand and compelling story to our external and internal audiences.  In addition to the director, the marketing department consists of a graphic designer, a content developer (website content, photo and video project management, etc.) and a communication specialist (social media, ad placement, publication management, etc.). The marketing department works cooperatively with the information technology department to establish development priorities for the college’s websites.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the personnel in the Marketing Department, which includes helping each employee to grow and develop in their roles, as well as providing them constructive feedback on a regular basis
  • Take personal responsibility for products and services rendered by the Marketing Department—it is important to set up systems that ensure all material produced is correct, coherent, and compelling.
  • Recognize that any activity related to the role and scope of the Marketing Department is a personal responsibility; mature conduct and professional work are expected at all times
  • Develop and maintain an Integrated Institutional Marketing Plan, which will provide information and direction to the marketing efforts at Greenville College
  • Implement mechanisms to collect, analyze, and disseminate market research throughout campus, so that well-informed decisions can be made regarding potential new markets and academic programs
  • Prepare and monitor budgets for marketing and advertising activities, including effectiveness measures
  • Coordinate with offices and departments across campus to ensure that all outward-facing aspects of their efforts are aligned with the Integrated Institutional Marketing Plan
  • Manage content on the college’s websites and coordinate closely with Information Technology to establish development priorities and effectiveness measures (such as Google Analytics)
  • Other duties related to the position as assigned by the Vice President for Enrollment

Required Skills:

  • Outstanding people skills, including the ability to supervise employees effectively
  • Effective communication skills, both spoken and written; must be able to speak clearly and be understood over the telephone
  • Background or aptitude in layout, design, photography, and copy editing are a plus
  • Ability and desire to work effectively in a challenging, goal-oriented environment
  • Creative and enthusiastic
  • Computer skills; especially Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to manage time well on a varying work schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

Education or Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

Required Experience:

  • Three to five years of experience in marketing
