The Community Service Organization (CSO) is responsible for the safety of the Greenville College community. CSO is an integral component of the College's efforts to provide leadership and service opportunities to students. The student staff provides a number of services to the GC community including after-hours response, regular checks of fire safety equipment, safety escorts, campus parking policy enforcement, residential furniture moving, and the campus rentals program.
The primary role of the Office of Campus Safety is to work in partnership with the campus community to enhance a safe living and learning environment, to provide quality service with an emphasis on integrity and professionalism, and to promote individual responsibility and cooperative commitment.
Under the management of the Director of Campus Safety and Security the office has a multitude of responsibilities, including: managing campus crime prevention and safety programs, management of the campus parking program; management of campus lock and camera systems; conducting investigations; assisting in the management of the campus crisis plan; monitoring the physical security of the campus; issuance of student ID cards; and, maintaining a liaison with local, county, state and federal law enforcement.
Student Safety Patrols are on duty every day of the week. Patrol time is Monday-Friday 4 pm-6 am, Saturday and Sunday 6 am-6am. Student Patrol members are mainly responsible for reporting unusual occurrences around campus, locking and unlocking buildings, and parking enforcement. While on duty, Student Safety Patrols usually work in teams of two members and are provided with flashlights and two-way portable radios that put them in direct contact with the Greenville Police Department.
The primary mission of the Office of Campus Safety is to promote a safe and secure campus environment. It is recognized that the accomplishment of this mission can only be realized with the support and cooperation of the campus community. It is necessary that every member of the College be alert to situations that require the attention of Campus Safety.
