Biology Education Major Overview

Our Biology Major demands comprehensive exposure to the entire field yet allows the flexibility to emphasize your particular interest. You may concentrate your studies in environmental biology, laboratory research, and secondary education in biology or graduate or professional school preparation. Students on a research track have the opportunity to publish a paper by their senior year. Research areas include studies in cell growth, DNA expression, botany, parasitology and recombinant DNA technology. Biology also offers a prep class for those interested in taking the GRE exam for graduate school admission.

Greenville professors are committed to providing an academic learning environment that allows you to thrive and grow into a highly competent professional. Course work is rigorous and you'll take the same courses as those designed for majors in each of the science disciplines. There are no abbreviated courses simply to meet minimum professional-school requirements. Our faculty takes a personal interest in all our students, both in and out of the classroom and will help you personally figure out your career plans. In fact, over the past 10 years, 85 - 90% of our students who applied to Medical School were admitted.

You will be encouraged to explore the ethical and moral implications of modern technology and you'll be challenged to respond to these issues in a thoughtful and Christ-like manner.

The Sciences at Greenville College offer "big school" opportunities in an intimate environment. Over 70% of all recent science graduates attend graduate school or gained employment related to their major in the first year. All full-time professors in the division of Science have a doctorate in their respective discipline.
