Walter Fenton, a GC alum, was appointed Vice President of Advancement for Greenville College in 2010. Mr. Fenton directs Greenville College's advancement office, focusing on establishing and maintaining relationships with alumni and friends of Greenville College.

Mr. Fenton graduated from Greenville College in 1984 with a B.A. in History and Political Science. After his time at GC he went on to receive a Masters of Divinity Degree in 1990 from Yale University, and then a Masters of Sacred Theology in 1991, also from Yale University. And in 2001, Mr. Fenton received a Masters of Arts in Religion from Vanderbilt University.

Perhaps the only thing more impressive than his education is his experience serving the Church and networking with other individuals. From 1996-2003, Mr. Fenton was Pastor in Charge at Lincoln Community United Methodist Church. From 2003-2005, he served as Senior Pastor of Chews United Methodist Church, and as Associate Pastor at Princeton United Methodist Church from 2006-2007. He then went on to work for Good News: A Forum for Scriptural Christianity as Director of Development and Networking from 2006-2009, and then as Chief Operating Officer from 2009-2010.

"I love Greenville College and I am grateful for all it did to shape who I am today. When I think of the profs who challenged and cared for me, I often think of them like I do my own parents. I am sure I was too immature as a student to recognize how much of an investment they were willing to make in me, but I eventually realized what a gift they were. I know several of them went out of their way to give me the time I needed to become a better student and a better person."
