About Catherine Burge

Catherine Burge holds the Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano and Pedagogy
from the University of Colorado. She currently teaches piano and clarinet at Greenville College, where she also accompanies the choral union and many students in private lesson studios or recitals as they strive to achieve the standards of virtuosity required for professional performance skills. She was originally hired there to class piano, keyboards, clarinet, pedagogy and accompanying, and to accompany the choir, orchestra, band and both faculty and student recitals.

Dr. Burge is the staff organist/pianist/keyboardist for Lebanon First United Methodist Church. She maintains a private music studio and performance business where precollege students may elect to participate in the Illinois Achievement in Music Awards program or Southern Illinois Young Artist Soloist Organization. She serves as adjudicator for these organizations, and performs with the Rome Festival Orchestra while in Italy and with the St Louis Wind Symphony as well as the Greenville College Choral Union and Blackburn College at home. She has performed with St. Louis Bach Society, accompanied the Masterworks Youth Chorale of Belleville, Rome Festival Opera and to open the Stolpersteine Verlegung ceremony in Regensburg, Germany. Dr. Burge is an ongoing student of the Taubman/Golandsky approach to piano and instrumental technique. She and her students have opportunity to perform each year at the Yamaha Young Artist Institute in New York City with Edna Golandsky.
