About Lisa Amundson

I love to teach. The energy in a classroom, the animated feedback from students learning, and the ability to be front row as the light bulbs come on is addictive.   At the beginning of my career I felt the strong sense that God made me a teacher. I am able to connect on a deep level with students, to scaffold their learning process, and challenge their preconceived notions. At Greenville College I have the opportunity to cultivate my pedagogy, particularly as I walk alongside students who wish to become teachers.   When I walk with students who are crafting their teaching skills, we become partners in this unending pursuit.
I want to teach in a way that models excellence and a continual pursuit of the truth.  I do this through my research practices.  Currently, I am fascinated with professional collaboration and our ability as teachers to make connections using online collaborative technologies.  Web 2.0 technologies has giving us an intriguing forum and tools in order to overcome many of the previous challenges professionals had with collaboration.  My research seeks to understand how to use these forums effectively and not simply efficiently.
There are other places in the world where I could fulfill my desire to teach students, and to grow professionally. However, there is no other place in the world quite like the Greenville College Community. God is entwined into the community at Greenville College, being a part of what He is doing here is such a blessing.  Community is why I returned and why I make the consistent daily decision to stay. I consider it a great honor to continue to serve this community here at Greenville College.

What's your favorite thing about working at Greenville College?

My favorite thing about Greenville is the students. I love how engaged and excited they are about learning. How they seek out new experiences and ideas to wrestle with as they develop into people with a heart for God.

What attracted you to Education?

I love the learning process, so I only ever wanted to become a teacher. Now that I get to teach teachers... I feel I am the luckiest girl in the world.
