Experiences

WGRN 89.5 FM, our FM radio station, is almost exclusively student managed and operated. This provides our students with many opportunities for practical experience that also earns academic credit. WGRN's mix of Christian and mainstream music ministers daily to the listening audience who lives within our signal's 28-mile radius. Other programming includes the regular broadcast of Greenville College Chapel, live play-by-play of many College sports, nationally-syndicated programs, news, and weather. The experience gained in this format is invaluable in the job market.

You'll also learn and develop production skills in the WGRN Production Studio. Equipment in the studio includes a 16-channel console, various tape recorders and signal processors, a linear multi-track tape recorder, computer recording and editing equipment, and more. We continue to upgrade the equipment to keep pace with our increasingly technological world.

Lambda Pi Eta is a National Communication Honor Society for undergraduates and is officially sponsored by the National Communication Association. This organization provides our students with an academic outlet for communication research through regional and national conventions, provides appropriate recognition for academic achievements in communication, and promotes unity and participation through various academic and social events.

Internships If you are majoring in Communication, you are encouraged to complete an Internship experience. These experiences are available in Advertising, Journalism, Mass Communication - Radio and Television, Promotions/Publicity, Public Relations, and Theatre. You may complete your Internship during a regular semester or in the summer between school years. It is advantageous, both for you and your employer, for the Internship to be pursued later in your college career, when more courses in the major have been completed and the necessary knowledge and skills have been obtained.
