What is Health Psychology?

The Bachelor of Science degree in Health Psychology is a degree completion program which provides avenues for students who seek entry into health service professions, integrating faith and learning into each step of their professional development. Through competency-based assignments and applications, students gain an understanding of psychological and behavioral factors that impact a person’s physical and mental health. Students address health care delivery at individual, family, group, organizational and institutional levels.

With the ever-changing landscape of healthcare across the world, there is a growing need for health service professionals to fill roles in this field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2014), graduates with Health Psychology degrees may find a projected growth in employment opportunities between 15 and 27 percent from 2012 to 2022.

  • Students take one course at a time
  • Transfer friendly – able to accept up to 82 credit hours of the 120 credit hour program. Students complete the remaining 38 credits through GC's accelerated online program.

Degree Requirements - 120 credit hours

  • Students earn 30 credit hours of general education requirements through Greenville College, transfer from a regionally accredited institution, prior learning assessment, or proficiency exams.
  • Students earn another 52 credit hours of elective courses that they can complete through Greenville College, transfer from a regionally accredited institution, prior learning assessment, or proficiency exams.
  • Students complete the remaining 38 credit hours requirements through Greenville College’s accelerated online program. These 38 credit hours fulfill the Health Psychology major requirements.
