A Master of Arts in Education (MAE) with a major in Literacy Instruction from Greenville College offers the chance for you to enhance your skills in building opportunities for your students to improve their reading skills. For those working in both the traditional and non-traditional education fields who want to develop their skills in improving their students' reading skills, an online master's degree in Literacy Instruction from Greenville College is the opportunity for you to expand your knowledge of teaching reading.  The course of study requires the completion of 10 courses and can be completed in as little as two years in an online environment.  Developing new understandings of the latest research in reading, methods in teaching reading, techniques, and delivery opportunities will allow you to grow and flourish as an educator in the K-12 classroom, a community college classroom, or in the corporate training setting.

Traditional classroom teachers, adult education teachers, corporate trainers, human resources professionals, and program coordinators need to be able to help students improve reading skills efficiently and effectively. Greenville College's online MAE in Literacy Instruction provides you with the skills you will need to utilize the most effective methods of improving reading instruction in both the educational and the corporate context.

The MAE in Literacy Instruction does not require a teaching certificate to enroll in the program. This program teaches you the most current theories and methods to engage audiences and enhance your value as a teacher, instructor or a trainer. Areas of study include exploration of skills in fluency and phonemic awareness, comprehension, assessment-based instruction, reading intervention strategies and a 100-hour practicum.  The program is completely online and each class focus can be applied to a broad range of career opportunities. 

Note: This program does not provide Illinois initial or advanced certification in literacy or reading, nor does it provide the initial certification required to become a teacher.
