Greenville University offers undergraduate and intensive English language programs to meet the needs of international students at every language level through cultural and linguistic immersion. Situated in a beautiful town near St. Louis, Missouri, Greenville University offers a transformative educational experience in the context of a caring Christian community.

Founded in 1892, Greenville University is located in the heart of Greenville, Illinois, a quaint town of 7,000 people. Greenville University offers a safe and relaxed setting for more than 1,400 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. Students can explore over 200 acres at Greenville University including the main campus, a nature trail, athletic complexes and a field station used for scientific research and astronomy. Located less than an hour from St. Louis, Missouri, Greenville University students have access to the excitement of a big city with first-rate museums, theatres, restaurants and professional sports teams.

The Greenville University community is dedicated to creating a safe environment full of activities to enrich your experience abroad. We offer a variety of student organizationsstudent success programs, athletic opportunities and music ensembles to help you explore and develop your passions. In the classroom, students receive personal attention from faculty and staff through small class sizes and encouraging and supportive professors. Approximately 75 percent of our faculty holds a doctoral or terminal degree in their field and many of our faculty actively engage in their fields through conferences, research and publications.

Our campus represents students from a variety of cultures and celebrates the diversity that each student brings to campus. Greenville University is home to students from countries around the globe including China, Ghana, Japan, Kenya, Rwanda and Saudi Arabia. In the past, we’ve also had students from Austria, Canada, Chile, Northern Ireland, Paraguay, the Philippines, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.


Greenville University offers a variety of distinguished academic programs including 11 top-rated undergraduate teacher education majors and a pre-med program that boasts a 90% acceptance rate to medical schools. Engineering dual degree, Business, Sciences, Digital Media, and Computer and Information Systems are popular choices for international students. Overall, 96% of graduates report full-time employment or enrollment in graduate school within nine months of graduation.

For nearly 60 years, our Engineering Dual Degree students have seen great success at two of the best engineering schools in the country. Greenville University offers a unique program that allows students to earn a Physics, Chemistry or Biology degree from Greenville University along with an Engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or Washington University in St. Louis. 98% of students who have transferred to either of these institutions under the Engineering Dual Degree program have successfully completed their engineering degree. 


Greenville University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools as an institution granting bachelor's and master’s degrees. Greenville University maintains affiliation with a variety of professional organizations and is approved by the Illinois State Teacher Certification Board to offer teacher education programs.

Greenville University is recognized by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People’s Republic of China [http://www.jsj.edu.cn/news/1/181.shtml]. The diplomas of degree issued by Greenville University can receive authentication by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), a public organization under Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People’s Republic of China.
