BIO 105 Health and Nutrition 3 Fall, Interterm & Spring

The aim of this course is to engage the student to contemporary theories and concepts about nutrition. This will include diet and exercise, pathology of eating disorders, and the effect of diet on emotional, mental, and spiritual health. At the end of the course, the student will have acquired and discussed a number of current issues and be able to have an informed and logical view. Meets the general education non-laboratory science requirement.

BIO 150 Medical Terminology 1-2 Fall, Spring, Summer 1, Summer 2 & Summer

A self-directed study of medical terminology which covers basic roots, prefixes, suffixes and terminology of different systems of the human body. Students prepare for periodic vocabulary tests on their own time and schedule. The object of the course is to prepare the student for entrance into health field by providing a review of vocabulary tools.

BIO 199m Field Marine Biology 2 Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

This introductory Marine Biology course will focus on all aspects related to Marine Biology including: the principles of marine biology, the function and environment of marine organisms, organisms found in the open sea, processes that occur in the open sea, organisms found within the sea bed, coastal benthic environments, the continental shelf, the deep sea, and human impact on the sea.

ENG 199 Literary Visions 3 Spring

This course is a study of several 20th Century extrapolative novels, short stories, poems, and films. Our purpose is to see the sorts of futures these writers have foreseen, to investigate the societal trends that might have inspired them, and to ask how accurate such visions might be. The course should enhance a student's reading, writing, listening, viewing, researching, and comprehension skills. TechnicalRequirements for this online course include high-speed internet access, a microphone, and speakers.

ENG 201 Literature 3 Fall, Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

An introduction to fiction, drama, and poetry as literary forms. Students will be encouraged to broaden and deepen their reading of literary texts through thoughtful analysis and interpretation of works of literature.

HPR 143 General Safety 3 Fall, Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

History, philosophy, and psychology of safety and accident prevention with emphasis on safety related to: athletics, farm, home, fire, industry, school, and traffic.

HPR 343 Basic Driver Education 3 Fall, Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

Designed to prepare teachers in driver education. Principles, content, materials, and methods of teaching in the classroom are presented.

HPR 344 Advanced Driver Education 3 Fall, Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

Laboratory experience is given during which the student enrolled in this course gives behind-the-wheel observations, instruction, and evaluation.

HPR 345 Teaching Driver Ed 3 Fall, Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

This course is designed to help prospective drivers education instructors understand the importance of teaching defensive driving in their curriculum and to have a plan on how to incorporate defensive driving into a driver's education course.

HPR 346 Defensive Driving 3 Fall, Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

This course is to use driver's education theories and methods to design, implement and evaluate a drivers education program; create and evaluate educational materials; and answer questions on the development of the young driver with a focus on safety issues.

HPRA 200 Walking/Running .5 Fall, Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

This course is an individualize program of walking/running activities. This course will enable students to become familiar with cardiorespiratory assessment, VO2 max, proper training zones, and prepare them to construct and utilize an individualized workout program. It will also give them the opportunity to research several health related topics of personal interest.

HUM 211 Introduction to the Fine Arts 3 Fall, Spring, Summer 2 & Summer

An elementary study of the formal and historical aspects of architecture, sculpture, painting, and music, and an examination of their relation to Western civilization at its high points.

MKT 333 Sales and Sales Management 2 Spring

For advanced students in marketing and management who wish to learn about selling with finesse and integrity and to incorporate principles that they can both practice and transfer to others under their supervision.

MTH 106 Finite Mathematics 3 Spring

This course will strengthen the mathematics skills of those students who must use mathematics in their major, such as business, biology, or the social sciences. Topics will include functions, systems of linear equations, matrices, linear programming, probability and statistics, and mathematics of finance including compound interest.

PHY 199 Geology 4 Fall, Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

Students enrolled in this class will learn that the Earth is a unique and dynamic planet through a variety of hands-on investigations.  Field work and lab kits will be used to investigate the Earth's main components, its resources, its history, its principles of operation, and its hazards.  The primary foci for this course are intriguing as well as important for everyone to understand.

PSY 101 General Psychology 3 Spring, Summer 1 & Summer

This course introduces psychology as a science and emphasizes the interaction of social, cognitive, emotional, motivational, and organizational approaches to understanding human behavior. All students participate in a service learning experience in which they apply course concepts in real world situations and organizations. Discussions within this class include Christian perspectives on current issues in human behavior, cognition, and motivation. (A section of PSY101 H Honors: General Psychology is offered fall semester in odd calendar years for members of the Honors Program.)
