After leading the 2013 football team to a record of 9-2 and the program's fifth NCCAA Victory Bowl appearance, interim head football coach Robbie Schomaker has been officially appointed as Greenville College's eighth head football coach.
The men's basketball team returned to action Friday with a 73-64 loss to Loras in its first game following the holiday vacation period. Despite having the game's two leading scorers in Alex Mumphard and Ron Harris, the Panthers were outshot and outrebounded in the defeat.
The Lady Panthers traveled to MacMurray College to compete in the MacMurray Classic and lost 90-79 in their first game of the tournament. GC was lead by Emily Gundy, who contributed 20 points for her team.
The men's basketball team entered the holiday lay-off on a high note as they routed Blackburn 98-58 on Saturday in Greenville. Ron Harris led the Greenville squad as he totaled 14 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
The women's basketball team evened their conference record at 1-1 with an offensive onslaught of Blackburn as the Lady Panthers won 97-71 Saturday afternoon. Emily Gundy knocked in 22 points to go along with a team leading eight rebounds and six assists.
The Greenville men's track and field team traveled to Illinois Wesleyan University in their first meet of the 2013-2014 season. The team had a number of impressive performances, including a first place finish by Josh Kuusisto.
