


GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Panthers manufactured eight runs in the seventh inning to overcome a three-run deficit on there way to their sixth consecutive SLIAC victory on Saturday. With the win over Principia, the Greenville club moved to 13-5 in conference and sits comfortably in third place in the SLIAC standings.
In the 15 run display Greenville got help from a number of hitters. Senior David Massengill remained hot, as he turned in a season high five RBI on the day while going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Freshman catcher Alex Quirin and sophomore outfielder Cole Lawson also added run support for the Panthers in the win. Quirin went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, and Lawson batted 3-for-5 with two runs scored respectively.
On the mound Clint Lustig picked up the win for GC in relief of starter Michael Wittmer, and bullpen arm Wes Letizia. Lustig went one-and-two-thirds inning with no hits, no runs, and no earned, with a strikeout.
GC found themselves down early at Robert E. Smith Field, as Principia held a 9-2 lead heading into the fifth. However, David Massengill’s three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth helped GC put five runs on the board in the inning and reduce the margin to 9-7. Principia added anther run in the top of the seventh, before Greenville exploded offensively for eight runs in the bottom of the inning.
