GREENVILLE, Ill. – GC baseball improved their record to 10-5 in SLIAC play on Wednesday night, splitting a conference double-header 6-2, 3-11 with Fontbonne University and posting a 2-1 record in the series set.
Fontbonne University cited a “lighting malfunction” in the fourth inning of last Tuesday’s nightcap that suspended play and forced a standstill that was decided on Wednesday at Robert E. Smith Field. The Panthers clinched the win 6-2 but were unable to keep the momentum and dropped the capper 11-3.
Fontbonne University (18-17, 15-5 SLIAC) currently sits in the number two spot in conference play, with GC close behind in 3rd. The Panthers will be at rest until next Wednesday, April 25 as the club will host Eureka in an afternoon twinbill.
