Baseball Earns No. 3 Seed in SLIAC Tournament, Eyes Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS – Greenville College baseball has punched their ticket for the 2012 SLIAC tournament and will battle Fontbonne University in a No. 2-3 tournament matchup on Thursday.

Webster University, Fontbonne University, Greenville College and Westminster College comprise the four-team field for the 2012 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Baseball Championships that will be held this Thursday-Saturday, May 10-12, at Glik Park in Highland, Illinois.

#2 seed Fontbonne faces #3 seed Greenville in a first-round contest at 5:00 p.m. Thursday. The losers of the first-round games play an elimination game Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m., and the tournament continues Friday and Saturday. The tournament winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

#3 Seed, Greenville (16-20) Is in search of its first-ever tournament title. GC stands 11-20 all-time in 11 tournament appearances and lost 9-3 to Webster in last year's SLIAC Tournament Championship.
