GREENVILLE, Ill. – The NCCAA has named GC freshman hurler Jessica Laubecher to the North Central Region All-Softball squad for her efforts in 2012.
The GC ace went 10-6 in 29 games for the Panthers (14-23) in regular season play with a 4.06 ERA, 66 strikeouts and 31 walks in 132.2 innings.
On April 4, Laubecher threw a perfect game in a 6-0 win over Eureka College in the first game of a doubleheader. Laubecher’s pitching line included four strikeouts among the 21 batters she faced. In seven innings, the Panther’s defense supported Laubecher with 17 putouts including two lineouts, 10 flyouts and five groundouts. Laubecher came right back and threw a complete game in game two, giving up only one run on six hits and recording three strikeouts in a 2-1 win.
At the plate, Laubecher helped her cause, hitting .300 (21-of-70).
This is Laubecher’s second collegiate award, and her first post-season award.
