Men's Basketball Falls Short to Westminster

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team had an opportunity to tie the game in the waning seconds but could not create a shot as Westminster held on for a 79-76 win Thursday night.  MarQuel Jones was the game's top scorer with 21 points.

Greenville held a one-point advantage at halftime and were outscored by four in the second half.

Westminster outperformed Greenville at the free throw line as the Blue Jays hit 25-of-31 charity tosses to Greenville's 9-of-12 showing.

Anthony Metzler contributed 13 points and four blocks for the Panthers.  Todd Albertson posted 13 points.

Alex Mumphard passed out six assists, and Ben Giertz tallied six rebounds.

The Panthers (7-9, 2-5 SLIAC) return to action Saturday as they host Fontbonne at 3 p.m.
