Women's Tennis Post-Season Awards; Baysinger Named Women's Tennis Newcomer of the Year

Women's Tennis Post-Season Awards; Baysinger Named Women's Tennis Newcomer of the Year

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The Women's Tennis Post-Season Awards were announced and GC's own Lexi Baysinger was honored with the coveted Newcomer of the Year award. Baysinger also was recognized as a member of the All-Sportsmanship Team and Greenville won the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Baysinger recorded a 5-1 SLIAC record over the course of the season in both singles and doubles. She played at the #2 and #3 singles spots and at the #1 and #2 doubles spots throughout the season. Her impressive work ethic and athleticism make her a key returner for the Panthers next season. Baysinger was also included as an Honorable Mention in the post-season SLIAC awards.

The duo of Baysinger and Kristen Lynch were on the First Team All-Conference at #2 Doubles. They were the only members of the team to recieve a First Team honor, as Principia earned the rest of the spots on First Team. 

Kat Kennedy was also an Honorable Mention for #6 Singles. 

Greenville won the Team Sportsmanship Award for the second year in a row. The Team Sportsmanship Award is given to the team whose players, coaches, and fans best exhibit the principles of good sportsmanship.

The 2013 All-SLIAC Teams are as follows:

#2 Doubles - Lexi Baysinger & Kristen Lynch, Greenville
#3 Doubles - Olivia Ikuma & Justine Roy, Principia

HONORABLE MENTION
#1 Singles - Catrina Holloway, Eureka
#2 Singles - Hillary Fitz, Webster
#3 Singles - Lexi Baysinger, Greenville
#4 Singles - Kathleen Kennedy, Webster
#5 Singles - Mackenzie Wilder, Webster
