GREENVILLE, Ill. -- Each summer Greenville College uses its time to provide facility enhancements across campus. This year is no different as the college is replacing its six lane track with a new eight lane track that will allow the school to host collegiate events. Last week, progress moved to the point where asphalt was poured as the foundation of the new track.
The college is working with Rooters Amerian Maintenance as the general contractor for the project. Once the asphalt underlayment is complete, Track Surfaces Company will add the final layer.
Work is expected to be complete by September 1, and the first football game will be played on September 14. Tentative plans call for Greenville College to host its first track meet in over 20 years on Saturday, April 12.
Other improvements at the John M. Strahl Athletic Complex have included a runway for the javelin event, a new hammer and discus cage, and a shot put area.
