ELSAH, Ill.-- The GC Softball team captured both of the wins, with scores of 15-1 and 5-4 on the road.
After two SLIAC losses yesterday, the Lady Panthers were ready to redeem themselves. They did just that in both games played at Principia.
The first game ended with an impressive 15-1 GC win. Greenville had 18 hits to Principia's 6 and seven different Panthers recorded RBI in the game. Shannon Elbe hit a homer in the second inning and a double in the fourth, finishing the game with 4 RBI. Ashley Sharp and Amy Sheets hit one double each in the game and Sheets earned 2 RBI. Danielle Helms recorded a triple in the second inning that earned her an RBI. Jessica Laubecher pitched for GC, facing 23 batters and allowing only one run.
GC also got the win in the second game of the day, this time with a score of 5-4. Hannah Burger was on the mound for Greenville and she faced 33 batters, allowed 5 hits, and gave up 4 runs. Offensively for GC, Mattie Fairchild had two doubles and Shannon Elbe, Reanna Weidner, and Jessica Laubecher each recorded an RBI.
These wins move the team's record to 5-13 (2-4 SLIAC). The team will play again April 9 when they take on Illinois College at home.
