GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team was outplayed by Fontbonne on Saturday as the Griffins won 78-72. Jordan Smith was the game's leader with 18 points.
Fontbonne took a 41-34 advantage to the locker room at halftime and held on despite Greenville's rally in the second half. Greenville was hurt by 20 turnovers during the afternoon.
In addition to Smith's 18 point performance, MarQuel Jones posted 13 points, and Alex Mumphard added 12 points. The game's leading rebounder was Simon Martin with 11 boards in 14 minutes of action.
Greenville (7-10, 2-6 SLIAC) resumes their season next Saturday when they travel to Blackburn for a 3 p.m. tilt with the Beavers.
