EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Greenville men’s cross-country team competed at the Evansville Invitational Saturday Oct. 16, taking fourth place out of 13 participating teams.
The Panthers were led by junior Xavier Ortiz (Palos Hills, Ill./AA Stagg) and senior Cole Prins (Erie, Ill./Erie), who both posted a top 25 finish.
Ortiz, who claimed the top spot for the Panthers, finished 18th overall with a season and personal best time of 26:04 on the 8k course.
Prins, who also posted a season and personal best time, ran a 26:10 to finish in the 20th spot on the day.
The men’s squad will run at the SLIAC Championships this Saturday Oct. 30 in Hillsboro, Ill. The Panthers look to regain the conference championship that they surrendered last year, and win their 12th title in 15 years.
