ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Greenville men's soccer program blanked Harris-Stowe with a 4-0 win. After falling to nationally ranked #18 Washington University the prior week, the Panthers regrouped and came out extremely motivated for Harris-Stowe.
Junior David Dunlop (Coleraine, Northern Ireland) notched a pair of goals in the match to help guide the Panthers to victory. Dunlop starting the goal fest with an unassisted game-winning goal in the 34th minute. Four minutes later, freshman Mark Ward (Waynesville, Mo.) broke loose on the flank and placed a brilliant ball into the mix creating an own goal. This would put the Panthers with a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Five minutes into the second half, the Panthers were awarded a penalty after a harsh tackle in the box. Dunlop calmly stepped up to the challenge and finished a brilliant strike into the top right corner to extend the lead to 3-0. Four minutes after Dunlop's goal, sophomore Nathan Mayberry (Mascoutah, Ill.) won a 50-50 ball in the center of the park that found the foot of junior Cobi Allen (St. Louis, Mo.). With blazing speed, Allen beat one defender and placed a solid strike to the back post. Allen's goal would extend the lead to 4-0 improving the Panthers to 3-2 on the season.
Junior Nathan Haas (Belleville, Ill.) was credited with the win after four saves in the first half and a quiet second half with only one save.
