Men's Cross Country Regains SLIAC Championship

HILLSBORO, Ill. -- The men's cross country team earned the SLIAC championship after two years of finishing second with a one-point victory over Principia in the SLIAC championship meet Saturday.

Greenville's top finishing runner was Alan Hollingsworth who placed second in 25:27.  Cole Prins was fourth, Xavier Ortiz crossed the line seventh, Bryant Simpson ranked 10th, and Leo Pathy came in 13th.  All five men were members of the SLIAC all-conference team with Hollingsworth, Prins, and Ortiz named to the first team and Simpson and Pathy awarded second team.

Greenville accumulated 36 points to top Principia's 37.  Greenville and Principia easily outdistanced themselves from the rest of the pack as Spalding was third with 70 points.

In addition, the SLIAC awarded postseason honors to Greenville with the sportsmanship award and the coach of the year trophy.

The Panthers continue their season at the Panther trials next Friday, Nov. 5, before competing in the NCAA midwest regional on Saturday, Nov. 13.
