ST. LOUIS, Mo.--The GC Women's Basketball team played another game on the road and could not bring home a win, losing to the Webster Gorlocks 65-48 in SLIAC play.
Ieisha Adams led the Panthers offensively, scoring 14 points and recording 4 offensive rebounds. Kayla Hyde and Laura Hobbie each added 9 points for GC.
Coley Baker was the defensive spark for Greenville. Baker was credited with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks in the game. Jamie Schollenbruch also had a strong showing, adding 5 rebounds and 2 steals for GC.
After back-and-forth action the first 10 minutes of the game, the Gorlocks took control of the game. By halftime, the Panthers were down 34-20. The Panthers had a better showing in the second half, scoring 28 points, but could not come back to defeat Webster. The Gorlocks came away with the win, with a final score of 65-48.
Gwen Williams was the leading scorer for the Gorlocks, with 13 total points in the game. Williams also recorded 5 rebounds, and 3 steals in the game. Maggie Zehner was also impressive for Webster, scoring 12 points and collecting 5 rebounds. Kaliann Rikard led the Gorlocks defensively, with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
Greenville's current record is 10-10 (5-6 SLIAC). They play on the road again Wednesday, Feb. 6 as they take on Westminster in hopes to improve their SLIAC record.
