Football Season Opener Moved to Edwardsville

Football Season Opener Moved to Edwardsville

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The impending weather forecast for Saturday has resulted in a change of venue for the Greenville College football team's season opener.  The game will now be played at 1 p.m. at the Edwardsville, Ill., High School sports complex.

Greenville will remain the home team as they face Millikin University from Decatur, Ill.  Greenville is opening their season against Millkin for the second consecutive season.

This is the second time in three seasons that the home opener will be played in Edwardsville.  Edwardsville High School has been a gracious host for Greenville College as Greenville's first two games were played there in 2010 while renovations of the Greenville College football field were not complete.

The 2012 season will be Ordell Walker's third as head coach as the Panthers look to build on three consecutive seasons with seven or more wins.
