JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball opened the 2013 portion of their conference season with a 94-75 loss to MacMurray on Saturday. Jordan Smith came off the bench to post a game-high 23 points.
The game was tight at the intermission as MacMurray entered halftime leading by two, but it was the second half which was MacMurray extend their lead and run away with the victory.
MarQuel Jones posted a solid all-around effort with 18 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals in 32 minutes of action. Todd Albertson likewise posted six rebounds, and Alex Mumphard gathered three steals.
The Panthers (6-5, 1-2 SLIAC) host Blackburn Tuesday at 7 p.m. before traveling to NCAA Division I Western Illinos on Wednesday.
