WGRN 89.5 FM
The mission of WGRN
89.5 FM is three-fold: first, to serve Jesus Christ and His
kingdom; second, to serve as a learning laboratory for Greenville
College students in the field of broadcasting; and third, to reach
out to its audience with programming that edifies, encourages, informs,
and entertains.
WGRN 89.5 FM, our
FM radio station, is almost exclusively student managed and operated.
This provides the student with many opportunities for practical
experience that also earns academic credit. WGRN
89.5 FM's mix of Christian and mainstream music ministers daily
to the listening audience who lives within our signal's 28-mile
radius. Other programming includes the regular broadcast of Greenville
College chapel, live play-by-play of many College sports, nationally
syndicated programs, news and weather. The experience gained in
this format is invaluable in the job market.
Students can also learn and develop production skills in the WGRN
89.5 FM Production Studio. Equipment in that studio includes
a 16-channel console, various tape recorders and signal processors,
a linear multi-track tape recorder, computer recording and editing
equipment, and more. We continue to upgrade the equipment to keep
pace with our increasingly technological world.
