Opportunities
An indispensable aspect of your music training is
the opportunity for performance. Periodic departmental recitals
stimulate creativity and discipline conducive to continued improvement.
A wide variety of ensembles provide extensive exposure to diverse
music literature and are open to qualified students from all departments.
Vocal:
- The Greenville College Choir is a tradition in itself. Performing
many styles of great sacred music, their annual spring tour has
included journeys to Washington D.C., Canada, Florida, New York,
Oregon, California, Colorado, and Arizona.
- All members of the college and community are invited to participate
in the Chorale, which performs the great chorale masterworks,
including an annual performance of Handel's oratorio, Messiah.
- The Chamber Singers perform choral literature from the Renaissance
period to the twentieth century.
- The Vocal Band is a group of singers and instrumentalists who
perform modern vocal jazz.
Instrumental:
- Our Concert Band presents two home concerts each semester.
- Opportunities are also available in smaller ensembles of brass,
strings, woodwinds, and jazz band.
Student Ministries:
- From male and female quartets to progressive bands, student
ministries are one of the most exciting avenues for performance
involvement. These groups travel to minister in churches and at
youth activities.

greatest musical interest. As you interact with them outside the
classroom, you'll notice their interest goes beyond your academic
training. They are concerned about you and your career. You can
count on their assistance in helping you prepare for your career
goals.

Here's what some recent grads have to say . . .
The music department has taught me things about music
that I never knew existed and its pushed me to become a better
musician.
Jared Cole, Class of 2000 Music Education/Theatre Major
The music department is very special here at Greenville
because of the diverse expertise of the professors. After just
two years, I have been exposed to a broad variety of music genres
that have enriched my music abilities and expanded my view of
what music can and should be for me. This is a difficult feat,
but Greenville has achieved it!
Elizabeth Wotring, Class of 2000 Church Music
When I first visited campus . . . I met some wonderful
people who are now my friends. I was impressed with how much personal
contact I got at Greenville over other music industry schools.
Now that I'm here, the CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) program
has challenged me academically, musically, and creatively. . .
without painting a false picture of the music industry.
Tracy Lee Marrinan, Class of 2001 CCM/Philosophy-Religion
Major
