Greenville College Athletic Hall of Fame
Class of 2002 Inductees - April 20, 2002

Walter Scott (1921) - Pioneer Category
Walter Scott served as one of the earliest directors of physical
education at Greenville College. He spearheaded the movement to
convert the field behind Hogue Hall into an athletic field that
we currently enjoy, fittingly called Scott Field.

Lester Finger (1943) - Coaching Category
Lester Finger, a Navy veteran, coached at the high school and college
levels for more than 25 years. He achieved notable success in Arizona
where his 1959 Phoenix Christian HS football team won a state championship
and he was named Arizona AP and Interscholastic Association Coach
of the Year.

Jo Ann Noble (1956) - Athletic Category
JO Ann Noble played intramural basketball, softball, and volleyball
at Greenville College prior to the years of intercollegiate competition.
She was named an All-Star in each sport. She served as a professor
of music at Greenville College for thirty years before retiring
to missions work in the Philippines.
Men's
Tennis (1971) - Team Category
The 1971 edition of the Greenville College men's tennis team accomplished
a feat unmatched to that date and since with the first undefeated
season in Greenville College history. Coached by John Strahl, the
men were 12-0 and PCC conference champions.
Tony
Hubbard (1977) - Athletic Category
Tony Hubbard played baseball at Greenville College where he was
an NAIA All-American catcher. He finished his playing career at
Greenville College as the career leader in runs scored, hits, doubles,
triples, home runs, runs batted in, total bases, and put outs.
David
Powell (1991) - Athletic Category
David Powell quarterbacked the 1987-1990 Greenville College football
teams to a record of 31-4-1. He was the most valuable offensive
player in 1987 and was the 1990 NAIA scoring champion with 18 touchdowns,
good for 108 points and an average of 13.5 points per game.
