Currently
working on the following projects for publication:
- Family
history book. TheDescendants of Owen Daugherty of Ireland. Traces
10 generations of one family line from 1656 - today. I am heading up a group
of 30 family members, nation-wide. I have written the first 4 chapters (3
generations) myself, incorporating massive research in primary text documents
from Virginia and North Carolina State Archives. I will collate my own and
other family members' information for the remaining generations, will do all
the writing, and will oversee publication of the book when it is finished.
- An
article on Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice, examining the intersections
between gender, clothing, and commodity. Tentative title: "Sexual Investments:
Gender, Clothing, and Commodity in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice."
- An
article on Edna O'Brien's novel, House of Splendid Isolation, examining
how the protagonist Josie McGreevy embodies both the "sheela na gig"
and "shan van vocht" archetypes and how these female figures are
used as symbols for the nation of Ireland itself.

Language Association, Medieval Association of the Midwest, Phi Kappa Phi, Conference
