Summary of Qualifications:
I have lived 14 years in Africa; including a total of 6 years working as project director for extension and natural resource related agricultural development in Rwanda. Since January of 1992 I have been a professor of biology at Greenville College; this includes short-term appointments at two institutes for environmental studies teaching courses in global resource issues. I have worked with state environmental programs in Illinois and have done EPA consulting in other regions of the U.S.A. My training and experiences are multidisciplinary in nature with a focus on food production and sustainable resource use. My doctoral studies from Auburn University focused on fish culture but with a strong multidisciplinary emphasis in international development. I am multilingual and have lived in France, Kenya, Burundi, and Rwanda. I have a long-term interest in education dealing with international issues, especially those related to the human interface with global natural resources and international development.
