Scholarship and Grant Opportunities
Scholarship Information
The cornerstone of Greenville College 's commitment to affordability is our extensive scholarship program. Below is information about each scholarship that we offer, as well as information about government grand and loan programs. Click on a specific category to view the scholarships, or scroll down and browse through the entire list.
Categories:
Merit Scholarships are awarded to students based upon achievement prior to attending Greenville College . Most are academic in nature, so be sure to send all of our official transcripts to the Admissions Office.
Departmental Scholarships are offered by a small number of departments on campus to students who show exceptional ability in that specific major or area.
Entitlement Scholarships are given to students who have a special connection with Greenville College or families in full-time Christian service.
Need-Based Scholarships are based upon financial need as determined by the FAFSA.
Matching Scholarships are programs through which Greenville College will match the scholarship awarded from some specific outside sources.
Illinois State Programs are available only to students from the State of Illinois . To qualify, you must file the FAFSA.
Federal Programs are need-based programs available to students who qualify based upon information on the FAFSA.
Merit Scholarships
Boyer Scholarship
Eligibility: Students who are a National Merit Semifinalist or Finalist
Amount: Three-fourths of tuition per year; renewed annually by staying in good standing with Greenville College and maintaining a 3.0 GPA
How to Apply: Confirm eligibility with the Admissions Office and the Financial Aid Office. All Boyer Scholarship recipients are eligible to attend a special all-access Scholarship Award Day on campus.
President's Scholarship
Eligibility: Freshman students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and a minimum score of 27 on the ACT or 1210 (math+critical reading) on the SAT – (Note: The Writing portion of the SAT and ACT are not considered when determining eligibility for academic merit scholarships. See why.)
Amount: $8000 per year; renewed annually by staying in good standing with Greenville College and maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
How to Apply: Confirm eligibility with Admissions and Financial Aid. All President 's Scholarship recipients are eligible to attend a special all-access Scholarship Award Day on campus.
Dean's Scholarship
Eligibility: Freshman students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and a score of 22 to 26 on the ACT or 1020 (math+critical reading) on the SAT– (Note: The Writing portion of the SAT and ACT are not considered when determining eligibility for academic merit scholarships. See why.)
Amount: $6000 per year; renewed annually by staying in good standing with Greenville College and maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
How to Apply: Confirm eligibility with Admissions and Financial Aid. All Dean's Scholarship recipients are eligible to attend a special all-access Scholarship Award Day on campus.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship/Transfer Honor Scholarship
Eligibility: Transfer students who hold a membership in Phi Theta Kappa or any transfer student with a college GPA of 3.25/4.0.
Amount: $5000 per year; renewed annually by staying in good standing with Greenville College and maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
How to Apply: Submit a copy of the Phi Theta Kappa certificate to the Admissions Office or Financial Aid Office or submit official college transcripts to the Admissions Office. All Transfer Scholarship recipients are eligible to attend a special all-access Scholarship Award Day on campus.
Leadership Scholarship
Eligibility: Only available to students not qualifying for another Greenville College Merit scholarship. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and evidence outstanding leadership characteristics or outstanding extra-curricular involvement (not including athletic achievement or participation).
Amount: $500 to $4000 per year; renewed annually by staying in good standing with Greenville College, maintaining a 2.5 GPA, and remaining active in leadership or service opportunities (not including athletic achievement or participation).
How to Apply: New student eligibility taken from information provided on the Admissions Application. Continuing students show evidence of leadership on annual G.C. Supplemental Aid Application.
Departmental Scholarships
Art Scholarship
Eligibility: Students majoring in Art.
Amount: Up to $1500 per year; renewed annually at the discretion of
the Art Department . Both portfolio evaluation and need are taken into account when determining award amount.
How to Apply: Must submit art portfolio to Art Department by March 1 for consideration. Contact Art Department for details.
Music Scholarship
Eligibility: Students majoring in Music, Music Education, or CCM. (Note: Music Business, Digital Media, and Media Promotions majors are not eligible.)
Amount: Up to $2500 per year; renewed annually at the discretion of the Music Department. Both audition and need are taken into account when determining award amount.
How to Apply: Must audition—either in person on one of the designated audition dates, or by videotape. See Music Scholarship Audition Guidelines for more information.
Science Scholarship
Eligibility: Freshmen planning to major in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics (or a related field) with a complete application file and who qualify for the President's or Dean's Scholarship.
Amount: $1000 to $2000 per year; renewed annually by maintaining a 3.0 GPA. Essay evaluation and need are both taken into account when determining award amount.
How to Apply: Science Scholarship Essay must be received by March 1. For essay details, contact Admissions Office or visit the Science Scholarship Information page.
Minority Education Scholarship
Eligibility: Minority students who declare an education major and have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and a minimum of 20 on the ACT or 950 (math+critical reading) on the SAT. (Note: The Writing portion of the SAT and ACT are not considered when determining eligibility for academic merit scholarships. See why.)
Amount: Up to $2500 per year; renewed annually by maintaining a 2.7 GPA.
How to Apply: Inform Admissions and Financial Aid of your eligibility.
Concert Band/Chamber Orchestra Participation Scholarship
Eligibility: Students who participate in either the Chamber Orchestra or Concert Band and are not eligible for the Music Scholarship.
Amount: $500 per year; renewed annually at the discretion of the specific ensemble director.
How to Apply: Based on audition. Contact the Music Department for audition information.
Entitlement Scholarships
Alumni Dependent Scholarship
Eligibility: Children of Greenville College Alumni
Amount: $500 per year; renewed annually by maintaining a 2.0 GPA.
How to Apply: Confirm eligibility with the Admissions Office and the Financial Aid Office.
Christian Service Dependent Scholarship
Eligibility: Dependents of active or retired ministers or missionaries who are full-time employees of the church and whose primary income is derived from the church.
Amount: Up to $2500 per year; renewed annually by maintaining a 2.0 GPA.
How to Apply: File the FAFSA and confirm your eligibility with the Admissions Office and the Financial Aid Office.
Free Methodist Youth Scholarship
Eligibility: Members or active participants in Free Methodist church programs.
Amount: $500 per year; renewed annually by maintaining a 2.0 GPA.
How to Apply: Confirm eligibility with the Admissions Office and the Financial Aid Office.
Sibling Scholarship
Eligibility: Awarded to each concurrently enrolled dependant sibling at Greenville College .
Amount: $500 per year; renewed annually by maintaining a 2.0 GPA.

Need-Based Scholarships
Greenville College Endowed Scholarships
Eligibility: Awarded to students with financial need after other sources of aid have been applied. Recipients will be asked to write letters of appreciation to donors.
Amount: Up to $4000 per year.
How to Apply: File the FAFSA. Returning students must also complete the G.C. Supplemental Aid Application.
International Student Scholarship
Eligibility: International students who show financial need.
Amount: Up to $5000 per year, renewed annually by staying in good
standing with Greenville College and maintaining a 2.5 GPA.
How to Apply: Complete the Certificate of Finance Form available from the Office of Admissions .
Out-of-State Tuition Scholarship
Eligibility: Full-Time students with financial need who are U.S. citizens and legal residents outside of Illinois .
Amount: Up to $4000 per year.
How to Apply: File the FAFSA.
Matching Scholarships
Church Partnership Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Any full-time undergraduate student with support of local congregation.
Amount: Local church elects to support student; GC will match a minimum of $250 and up to $1000 of support provided by church.
How to Apply: Submit completed Church Partnership application form (approved by local church) to GC by March 1. After March 1, GC portion of the scholarship will depend on availability of funding.
Dollars for Scholars
Eligibility: Recipients of scholarship assistance through the Dollars for Scholars organization.
Amount: GC is a Collegiate Partner of Scholarship America and the Dollars for Scholars (DFS) family of community scholarship foundations. GC will match DFS awards up to $750 per student.
How to Apply: Contact your local school's guidance office and ask if your community has a Dollars for Scholars foundation. If so, follow the necessary application process and inform the Financial Aid Office of any awards.
State of Illinois Programs (for Illinois residents only)

ISAC MAP Grant
Eligibility: Residents of the State of Illinois enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credit hours per semester).
Amount: Up to $4,521 (2006-07) per year based on need. If student is enrolled in less than 15 credit hours per semester, then award amount is prorated. Must apply annually.

ISAC Incentive for Access Grant
Eligibility: Residents of the State of Illinois enrolled on at least a half-time basis and have a zero expected family contribution.
Amount: $500 for the freshman year of college.

Illinois Future Teachers Corporation (IFTC) Program
Eligibility: Residents of the State of Illinois who plan to teach in a "shortage" discipline.
Amount: $5000-$10000 per year.

Federal Pell Grant
Eligibility: Students with financial need enrolled at least half-time and making satisfactory progress.
Amount: Up to $4050 (2006-07) per year. Must apply annually.

SEOG (Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant)
Eligibility: Full-time, Pell-eligible students with extreme financial need.
Amount: Up to $2000 (2006-07) per year. Must apply annually.
