Greenville College to Celebrate 150 Years of Higher Education - GREENVILLE , ILL. Throughout 2005, Greenville College will commemorate 150 years of higher education in Greenville which started with Almira College in 1855, transitioned to Greenville College in 1892 and continues today. Almira College began as a college for women under the direction of John Brown White and Stephen & Almira Blanchard Morse. In 1892, nine local men purchased the Almira College property and Greenville College was established.

Greenville College Joins International Consortium to Welcome Japanese Students - G.C. Will Be the only U.S. School in the Consortium -
GREENVILLE , ILL. Greenville College welcomed Dr. Hishashi Kitanaka and Kumi Sunada from the Trinity Foundation Programme in Bangor , North Wales to celebrate the formation of a partnership that will allow Japanese students to attend the college. During this visit, the college hosted a signing ceremony in which Greenville College officially joined a consortium of four other internationally known universities from the British Isles , including Trinity College of Dublin, St. Andrews University (where Prince William attends), Bangor and Aberwystwyth.

Greenville Choral Union and Orchestra to Begin Rehearsing Mozart Requiem for April 24 Concert GREENVILLE, IL The Greenville Choral Union will begin vocal rehearsals for its Spring Concert on Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the new Greenville College Music Center Recital (formerly the Greenville Free Methodist Church sanctuary) located at the corner of College Avenue and Elm Street . Rehearsals for the Greenville Community Orchestra are currently taking place on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Greenville College Band Room.
Greenville College Students Will Travel to India to Aid in Tsunami Relief Efforts - Students to Spend Spring Break Rebuilding Orphanage in Nanguneri - GREENVILLE , ILL. After weeks of watching the number of the dead rise from the tsunami disaster, my hands are restless to help those hurting, said Greenville College Sophomore, Katie Kapteyn. Kapteyn, one of twelve students selected to participate in a service trip to India , will soon have her prayers realized as she travels with other students and staff members to Nanguneri to rebuild Agape Adayakulem Hostel. The trip, which will take place during the college's spring break, March 25 April 3, will cost $24,000, which the students will raise through private donations, a golf tournament and dinner.

Greenville College Takes Possession of Free Methodist Church Facility Building Will House the College's Music Department
GREENVILLE , ILL. Greenville College , which agreed in the spring of 2002 to purchase the Free Methodist Church , took possession of the church Monday, February 7 th . In order to better serve our campus community and the local community, the college will renovate a large portion of the building. The initial renovation process will take 6 months to complete, during which time the college will continue to offer chapel and music programs in the sanctuary.

Greenville College Welcomes Dr. Ivan Filby, Listed in Who's Who in the World - GREENVILLE , ILL. Greenville College announces the arrival of Dr. Ivan Filby, the newest member of the Management Department and department chair. In January, Filby and his family moved to Greenville from the United Kingdom where he worked for the past 16 years at Trinity College of Dublin, a school currently ranked as one of the top 100 universities in the world. Filby holds a Ph.D. in Management, in addition to masters degrees in Management and Missions.

Greenville College Receives $20,000 from University Loft Company - Donation to Be Used for Experiential Learning - GREENVILLE , ILL. Greenville College officials drove to University Loft Company (ULC) headquarters in Indianapolis , Indiana to receive a $20,000 check from company founder James Jannteids, the largest donation the company has made to the college. The money will be used for the college's experiential learning program that funds such student activities as Walkabout, the resident chaplain training, and Urban Plunge, a weekend in which students travel to St. Louis to serve urban ministries.

The play tells the story of an anti-romantic love triangle involving a Bulgarian woman, her fiancé and an escaped enemy soldier.

Greenville College Students Will Host 24-Hour Ultimate Frisbee Game to Raise Money for Displaced Sudanese - GREENVILLE , ILL. Greenville College 's Campus Activity Board (CAB) will team up with St. Paul's Free Methodist church for a 24-hour ultimate Frisbee game called 24 for Dafur. To be held on Scott Field during Homecoming Weekend, October 15-16, the event will raise money and blankets to be sent to the Dafur region of Sudan . The event will begin at 5 p.m. this Friday evening, continue through the night, and will end Saturday evening at 5 p.m.

Greenville College Finalizes Music Center Plans - Display on College Ave. Showcases the New Facility - GREENVILLE, IL. The Greenville College board of trustees has chosen a design concept for a new atrium building, which will be attached to the current Free Methodist Church facility. Greenville College Announces Founders as New Bookstore Provider - Bookstore Will Close October 30 and Reopen Mid-November - GREENVILLE , IL Greenville College announces a partnership with Founders as the college's new bookstore provider. Family Christian Store will close at the end of October, the facility will undergo remodeling at the beginning of November, and then will reopen in mid-November as a Founders store.
 Greenville College to Celebrate 150 Years of Higher Education with Restoration of Almira College House - GREENVILLE, IL Throughout 2005, Greenville College will commemorate 150 years of higher education in Greenville . A key project in the year-long celebration, the restoration of Almira College House, will begin next month. Almira College House, now known as the Bock Museum , was constructed in 1855 and currently showcases the largest single collection of works by sculptor Richard W. Bock. The restoration process will return the house to its former grandeur, where it can then serve the community and host the Bock collection for many years to come. 
Greenville College Band, BDA, Signs Record Deal with Creative Trust Workshop
Greenville College , birthplace of Grammy Award winning Jars of Clay, introduces BDA, a lyrically-refreshing campus favorite poised to make a national impact. BDA recently signed a recording contract with Creative Trust Workshop (CTW), an independent label under the umbrella of Creative Trust, Inc., an entertainment management and marketing firm formed in 1989 that manages Multi-Grammy and Multi-Dove winning artists Steven Curtis Chapman and Third Day. BDA, whose name is an acronym for Better Days Ahead, (and the name of its CTW debut) is working with veteran producer Scott Williamson. The album is scheduled for release on October 26. Dan Raines, president of Creative Trust Workshop, said BDA's music is as infectious musically as it is compelling lyrically. I think they will have an immediate impact at radio and retail on a national level, like they have already had on a regional llevel.

In the fall of each year, Greenville College, a four-year Christian liberal arts college affiliated with the Free Methodist denomination, hosts a minister's conference. Greenville has been
playing host to this event for over eighty years and the event has served as an opportunity for spiritual growth and renewal for local ministers.

Greenville College President, Dr. V. James Mannoia, Jr., Celebrates Five Years of Service to Higher Education in Greenville
This spring, Greenville College President, Dr. V. James Mannoia, Jr., was recognized for over five years of service. During his term Dr. Mannoia has seen the college through numerous improvements and transformations in many areas of campus, including college academic programs, building projects, campus planning, and fiscal provisions. During the spring board meeting of the Greenville College Board of Trustees, the Board did recognize Dr. Mannoia's tenure and service to the College with a new three(3) year contract. Pearson L. Miller, Chair of the Board, said, "the Board values the remarkable leadership skills that Dr. Mannoia has brought to the President's Office at Greenville College . The Board is extremely pleased to announce the signing of another three year contract with Dr. Mannoia as president of the College."
