It is my pleasure to introduce the new promotional materials for
our upcoming twelve week promotional campaign. The overall theme
and tag line will also be integrated campus wide into all of our
marketing materials. I want to thank my staff and the Greenville
College marketing team for all their hard work.

Our overall theme is transformation, which ties in very well with
our mission statement. Our visual metaphor is the acorn becoming
an oak tree. Our tag line is:
Because you were created for great things!
The first phase of the media campaign will generate awareness for
Greenville College in the St. Louis market. The plan utilizes a
media mix consisting of radio and outdoor advertising. Over the
next several weeks more than 360 radio spots will take place. In
addition to the radio spots, we will have three billboards which
will go up and be present.
The overall theme is biblically based:
Mark 4:3-8
A sower went out to sow. And he sowed, some seed fell on the
path, and the birds came and ate it up. Other seeds fell on rocky
ground, where it didnt have much soil. And when the sun rose,
it was scorched; and since it had no root, it withered away. Other
seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and
it yielded no grain. Other seeds fell into good soil and brought
forth grain, growing up and yielding thirty and sixty hundredfold
2 Corinthians 5:17
So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything
old has passed away; see, everything has become new

February Telethon
During the February Telethon for student scholarships we attempted
to reach more than 6,000 alumni and friends by mail and by phone.
Many enthusiastic students volunteered to call, and several of
them called for more than one night. Travis Peterson (class of '02),
Ryan Giffen ('03), and Aliza Schwarz ('04), were there almost every
night of the two-week calling period. Those three were the top student
callers, raising a combined total of $11,460 in pledge commitments.
Overall, we received more than $80,000 in pledges during the calling
phase of the telethon, and we expect that figure to rise significantly
as more people respond to the post-telethon follow-up mailings.
Thank you students, faculty, and alumni for your volunteer efforts!

The
Ivy Cutting Luncheon, sponsored by the Alumni Association, will
be held Saturday, May 18, following the Ivy
Cutting ceremony for the 2002 graduates and their families.
The Ivy Cutting Luncheon is one of many Greenville College traditions.
During the luncheon two senior class members will share reflections,
the senior class will present their gift to the president, and it
will conclude with a time of sharing.
The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Armington Center.

Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian
- $1,000
The Ruby E. Dare Library has received an Educate and Automate "Back
to Basics" grant of $1,000 from the Illinois Secretary of State
and State Librarian Jesse White.
The grant will be used toward the purchase of a more powerful cataloging
computer for the Library workroom. It will enable use of the new
web-based Library Automation Software for Cataloging and Acquisitions
being installed this summer by the ILCSO/ILLINET Online consortium
to facilitate purchasing library materials and making them accessible
to students and faculty.
Congratulations to Jane Hopkins for her success on this project.
