Teagle Foundation
The Teagle Foundation has awarded Greenville College a three-year
grant of $261,000 to support the implementation of our new General
Education curriculum. This project will extend over a three year
period. We will receive $120,000 in March to support the development
and launch of COR 101 and 102, $75,000 in 2001, and $55,000 in 2002.
The final $11,700 will be distributed per the Teagle Foundation.
Dr. Karen Longman, vice
president for Academic Affairs, offered special thanks
to Brad Shaw, Craig
Boyd and Linda Myette for all
their efforts on this request.
$40,000
Eisenhower Science Education Grant
Through the work of James Lang, Greenville
College has received this grant which will be used for summer workshops
to train junior high and high school science teachers. They will
be held on our campus this summer and conducted by our science faculty.
$25,000
James S. Kemper Foundation
This grant is to develop The Kemper Instructional Technology Resource
Center which will allow faculty to develop classroom media materials
and also be used as a training center. It will be located in the
MRC.
We will begin a student program called STARS which will provide
student technology assistants to faculty for special training and
projects. Faculty will apply for a project, noting the number of
hours they estimate they will need a STAR. Then, based on the number
of requests and the nature of the project, they will be assigned
a student assistant to help teach them how to develop the technology.
The grant will be implemented in the 2000-2001 school year.

help support the Cuerdas Classicas Guest Artist Program held in

Spring 2000 Update
Jim Stjernstrom, Director of Development
Travis Klopfenstein, Director of Advancement
- To date we have raised over $158,000
in pledges for telethon, and have already received more than $15,000
of that.
- Students dominated the volunteer callers and enabled us to finish
a week early.
- 125 students called--representing
18 campus organizations.
- Steve and Veronica Ross put in
a heroic effort on behalf of Lambda Pi Eta and deserve many thanks.
- Extending his record of telethon participation, Howard
Krober again led all callers with the amount of pledges
he raised.
- Congratulations to President Mannoia
on soliciting the largest pledge of the telethon--$25,000!
- Thank you to all of the volunteer
callers, addressers, overtime staff, Marriott employees, coaches,
and admissions staff that made this years telethon a success.
- A special thank you to this year's top student caller--Kristi
Noggle--who did not miss one hour of the telethon! Phil
O'Neal came in second with Tonya
Schmidt a close third.
- Cheerleaders finished as the top
student group because of their group's 100% participation and
the calling of Kristi and Tonya. Lambda
Pi Eta finished 2nd because of Steve and Veronica Ross,
and Phil O'Neal enabled the Junior Class
to finish third.
- Again, thank you to everyone who volunteered to call and help
with the crucial effort of raising money for student scholarships.
