Memories
MI ALANA August 2003
To
kick off MI ALANA orientation there is an opening dinner. This is
a time to get to know other students and faculty. Remember, you
are not the only one that is new - there are plenty of others in
the same situation. The faculty are great people who want to get
to know you even if you don’t have a class with them. Included
in all this great bonding time is a speaker who shares an encouraging
message to help you start your year with confidence.
The
purpose of MI ALANA (Missionary, International, African, Latin,
and Native American) is to get people of all different backgrounds
together to learn about one another. At Greenville College, many
different backgrounds are represented. It is interesting to expand
our worlds!
The
second day of the orientation there is a breakfast and devotional.
It is a great way to get free food, reunite with the people you
just met, and learn more about God. Also during the morning there
will be an informational meeting about the college, so bring your
questions.
To
close the orientation there is a dinner. This dinner is full of
chit chat about the last few days and excitement about the new semester.
By this time you have met and developed relationships with many
people and as a result are ready to start the semester. Hopefully
it was an enjoyable experience. Once orientation ends life gets
crazy, but don’t forget us, your friends here at the multicultural
office.
