Greenville College Homecoming Concert Features Alumni and Students
Free Concert Features Solafide, Stephanie Smith, and BDA
GREENVILLE , ILL. – Greenville College, known throughout the country as an incubator for musical talent, presents a homecoming concert of three campus favorite ensembles featuring students and alumni Saturday, October 22 at 8 p.m. at the college's music center. The public is invited to attend this free concert.
While at Greenville College, a school nationally recognized for its Contemporary Christian Music program, BDA recorded two full-length albums that caught the attention of producer Scott Williamson and led to a three-song collaboration. “After receiving strong industry reaction to that demo, we finally signed with nationally-distributed Creative Trust Workshop in June of 2004 and began an intense season of work on our first major-label album” said BDA. The album, titled “Better Days Ahead,” was released in October 2004.
The band has developed a fan base by touring in the Midwest and Northeast and has performed at summer festivals alongside touring artists such as Switchfoot, Sixpence None the Richer, Jars of Clay and Audio Adrenaline.
“Songs like ‘Maybe You,' ‘Something Wonderful' and ‘You Loved Me When' became favorites of our friends at Greenville and turned out to be favorites of our label and producer,” said BDA.
Stephanie Smith, a senior at Greenville College, has received the attention of a major label in Nashville. Smith recognizes her gift is a ministry to others. “I have embraced music as a passion of mine, and I feel that at a young age I have already been through a lot, and have many experiences to write about. It is my desire to be something refreshing amongst a dry and depressed generation,” said Smith.
The Contemporary Christian Music program at Greenville has provided her with many opportunities for collaboration, instruction, recording and performance, including main stage appearances at Agape Music Festival in 2003 and 2005.
Solafide, an up and coming campus favorite from Pickneyville, tours Illinois with an Indy-rock sound. Brandon Ross, the lead singer/guitar player is senior at the college as is band mate and bass player Ian McDurmott.
Greenville College is a four-year accredited Christian liberal arts school with more than 1300 traditional undergraduate, graduate, and adult degree completion students. Founded in 1892 and affiliated with the Free Methodist Church, the college is located in Greenville, Illinois, 45 miles east of St. Louis.
