Eric and Rebecca Small In Concert at Greenville College Friday, March 19

GREENVILLE - Eric and Rebecca (Cullison) Small will present a concert of vocal music, accompanied by pianist Sondra Hyslop, Friday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. in LaDue Auditorium on the campus of Greenville College.

Rebecca Cullison Small, a 1988 graduate of Greenville College, is described by famous Basso Giorgio Tozzi as possessing "a beautiful, rich voice of strong amplitude and a wide range, which she uses with artistic and communicative intelligence." The flexible nature of Ms. Small's voice has led her to sing many diverse roles at Indiana University Opera Theater including Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute and Diana in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld.

While earning her masters degree in vocal performance, Ms. Small sang as soloist in an abundance of oratorios ranging from Bach's Mass in B-minor to Poulenc's Gloria. Ms. Small has also appeared as a featured soloist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Eric Fenton Small, soloist and featured tenor in numerous oratorios and cantatas, has performed with groups including Columbus Pro Musica, The Bach Chorale Singers, Mon Choeur, Musica Ekklesia, and Pro Arte Singers. As a soloist, he has appeared with tenor David Gordon and conductor Thomas Dunn, former conductor of the Handel and Haydn Society. In addition, Mr. Small has also done recording work for Raymond Leppard.

Mr. Small is at home on the opera stage as well and has been featured in many major roles at the Indiana University Opera Theater. Singing the role of King Kaspar in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, Mr. Small toured with original cast members and in New York was hailed as, "remarkable." The reviewer noted, "Small's voice is clear and focused without being shrill. His diction is also impeccable." Mr. Small is currently completing a doctorate in voice at Indiana University and will be performing the role of Des Grieux in Massenet's Manon at Brevard Music Center this summer.

The concert is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact the Greenville College Department of Music at (618) 664-2800, ext. 4336.
