Professor Larry Starr Retires from Greenville College
GREENVILLE, IL—After 17 years of teaching, Professor of Mathematics Mr. Lawrence A. Starr, has retired from Greenville College. A committed and learned educator, Professor Starr invested 43 years in the teaching of mathematics at the high school and college level.
Starr's tenure at Greenville College commenced with the 1981-82 school year. He arrived on campus with 24 years of high school instruction coupled with five years experience as an adjunct professor at North Park College. With this foundational background, Starr spent the next 17 years encouraging the scholarly growth of future mathematics educators.
Starr also applied his knowledge to written instruction through work with high school instructional materials. Published by Random House, he is credited for his participation with Algebra One, Algebra Two, Geometry and Algebra Skills Drill Kit textbooks and materials.
In 1997, Starr was honored by the Executive Board of the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics with an award established to recognize veteran teachers and administrators of Pre-K through college mathematics for their years of dedication and service to the mathematics education of students.
Greenville College is a four-year Christian liberal arts school with about 1,000 traditional and adult students. Founded in 1892, it is affiliated with the Free Methodist Church.
