Bass Trombonist from Boston Symphony
Orchestra to Perform at Greenville College

GREENVILLE -- Greenville College will host Doug Yeo, bass trombonist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tuesday, March 2 through Thursday, March 4. As the featured guest for the annual fine arts festival sponsored by Dr. Lawrence Schoenals, he will be speaking and performing during chapel services on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Greenville Free Methodist Church.

A recital by Yeo will be held Tuesday evening beginning at 8:45 p.m. in LaDue Auditorium. Faculty members Louise Weiss and Chris Woods will assist him. During the three-day festival, students will have the many opportunities to hear Yeo speak and perform, including several music classes, a panel discussion Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., masterclasses on Wednesday afternoon, and an open trombone choir rehearsal Wednesday evening.

Doug Yeo has been the bass trombonist with the Boston Symphony since May 1985. He also performs with the Boston Pops Orchestra. His broad musical background includes two years as a high school band director, a four-year tenure with the Goldman Band, and performances with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, the Gerry Mulligan Big Band, and orchestras for numerous Broadway shows. In addition to playing the bass trombone, he plays the bass trumpet and serpent when called for in the orchestra. In 1998, he was named Music Director of The New England Brass Band.
