Pathways
of Civilization
An interdisciplinary travel series, Pathways of Civilization, is
scheduled to begin in May, 2003. The departments of Art, Communication,
and Psychology have joined together to offer this series of travel
experiences designed to introduce students to the art and culture,
communication patterns, and ideas that shape personality and family
life. The first trip of the series is a nine-day exploration of
Italy, offered May 21-29, 2003. The classic and historical cities
of Venice, Florence, and Rome are among the destinations included
in the itinerary. Local guides accompany the group and complement
curriculum projects, lectures, and excursions directed by the faculty
sponsors Sharon Davis, Veronica Ross, and Susan Hughey-Rasler.
Greenville
College alumni and friends are welcome to accompany students and
faculty on this first trip of the series. In years to come, the
four-part series will include trips to Greece, France and Germany,
and England and Scotland. Costs for the trip include air fare, all
entrance fees, hotel accommodations, and one meal per day in addition
to a continental breakfast; with registration and insurance, costs
for participants will range between $2100 and $2400 depending upon
student or adult status. Adults who are not students pay an additional
$60 above the regular rate and all persons interested are encouraged
to register within the summer months of 2002 in order to secure
the lowest possible rates.
If you are interested in registration or receiving more information,
contact one of the faculty sponsors by email: sdavis@greenville.edu,
vross@greenville.edu,
or srasler@greenville.edu.
This program is offered under the A.C.I.S. corporation and will
be organized in a manner consistent with their guidelines for international
travel with students.
