Men's Track and Field Claims Second Straight National Title
In May, the Greenville
Men’s Track & Field Team secured their second straight
outdoor national championship. The team had five first place finishes,
five second place finishes and seven third place finishes giving
them a total of 197 points, outscoring second place Taylor University
by 72 points.
Some of the team’s best events included the long jump, which
brought them 22-1/2 points, the triple jump with 21 points, and
the 400 meter dash with 15 points. The team also showed a marked
improvement in the 3000 meter steeplechase scoring 11 points versus
zero scored last year. Greenville also had seven event champions
who in turn earned NCCAA all-American honors.
At the end of the weekend, the Panthers had amassed six school records.
They also accomplished 21 lifetime bests and 28 school bests.
