Baseball Team Earns At-Large Bid To NCCAA Nationals
On
the strength of a 26-13-2 regular season record and a strong showing
in the regional tournament, the GC
baseball team received an at-large bid to the NCCAA national
tournament this spring. It was the Panthers first appearance
in the national tourney since 1996.
Greenville entered the single-elimination tour-nament in Celina,
Ohio as the ninth seed. The Panthers lost to Mount Vernon Nazarene
3-1 on May 16.
The Panthers accepted the bid to nationals after taking second
place in the North Central Regional Tournament.
Regional honors went to several Panthers. Ben Schwab, a 60
junior from Litchfield, Ill., was named Pitcher of the Year. Joining
Schwab on the First Team were sophomore Kyle Shultz (Utility Player)
and senior Mike Nance (Pitcher). Senior Drew Schneider (1B) and
juniors Luke Hohlt (2B), Jon Jacobson (OF), Eric Poling (Catcher),
and Morgan Spencer (Pitcher) were Honorable Mentions.

has compiled a record of 104-91-2 in 5 seasons at Greenville.
