Alumni Reunion Weekend
About 600 attended the 4th annual summer
gathering

For
most of Greenville’s 4th annual Alumni Reunion Weekend June 15-18,
it was either raining or threatening to rain. The wet weather did
not dampen the spirits, however, of the 600 or so alumni, family
members, and friends who attended the four-day celebration.
Alumni Jim and Susan Claussen and their family were honored Saturday
at the dedication of the new plaza named after them and paid for
entirely by their generous donations. The shrub-lined plaza runs
along what used to be the Oak Street parking lot behind Hogue Hall,
from Elm Street on the east to the west end of Janssen Hall.
Page Circle, on the west end of the plaza, was also dedicated in
honor of Susan Claussen’s parents, Clyde and Florence Page.

Another highlight of the weekend was the Alumni Banquet Friday
night. Special honorees included local hog farmer and faithful GC
donor Marion Jenner, retiring professor Dr. Leon Winslow, Free Methodist
Bishop Emeritus Donald N. Bastian, and longtime college attorney
John W. Kelsey. (See Alumni News for
