MAE/MAT off to Excellent Start with New Director
In March, the Office of Adult and Graduate Studies
launched two new master’s programs in Education, aimed at
working adults. The Master of Arts in Education (MAE) is for current
teachers who want to obtain a graduate level degree, providing teachers
with professional development and opportunities for career advancement.
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is for individuals who want
to transition to teaching career at the elementary or secondary
level, and already hold an undergraduate degree.
The program had a terrific start in its first semester with 58
students at three sites. Dr. John Raymer, formerly superintendent
of the Germantown Elementary School District, joined GC on July
1 as director for both programs. His work involves developing class
offerings as well.
Raymer brings to Greenville College over 30 years of experience
as a classroom teacher at the elementary, high school and community
college levels, in addition to serving as principal of elementary
and high schools, with ten years as a district superintendent.
