Seventh Annual Alumni Reunion Weekend
Greenville College hosted the seventh annual Alumni
Reunion Weekend June 12-15, 2003. The weekend reunited the classes
of 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1993, and 1998.
The
2003 weekend kicked off to a great start on Thursday with a picnic,
ice cream social and concert on Scott Field.
Friday provided opportunities for folks to pursue their individual
interests at a variety of workshops and activities. Among the best-attended
were the digital camera workshop hosted by Robyn (Jaenke) Florian
’88 and the always popular Panther Golf Scramble, benefiting
GC athletics.
Everyone
had a chance to renew friendships at Friday evening’s banquet
with guest speaker Dr. W. Richard Stephens ’53, president
emeritus. Barry Swanson ’77 received the Distinguished Alumnus
Award, Ron Richards received the Faculty Award and Al ’53
and Emily ’54 Moore won the Loyalty Award.
More chances to catch up happened at noon on Saturday, with individual
class reunion lunches. Dinner that night featured an Italian-style
meal in Armington Center. The entertainment moved to Patriot’s
Park where Dr. Michael Johnson and several GC faculty members performed
a jazz concert. The weekend culminated in a slice of Americana,
the annual fireworks display.
